Parts-o-Strat Sunburst/Rosewood
Here's another case where I sold something, in this case a 60's RI Strat (I've actually had TWO of these, here's the other), and then ended up buying something just like it again. Nuts.
This one's a Parts guitar, again from ebay. It originally had a Fender 50's RI neck on it, but after doing some parts-swapping with "Red", I ended up with this neck, a chunky C-shaped Allparts 2nd, on this guitar and the 50's RI on "Red". This neck is nice and fat, lightly finished, very stiff and is an excellent compliment to the light body on this guitar. My friend Drake played Red w/this neck and this body w/50's RI neck and said "I'd swap necks". That was exactly what I was thinking, so that's what I did!
This guitar (I guess I need a name for it...) has Fender Custom Shop '54 pickups in it, a blender pot instead of a 2nd tone, and gold hardware. It's a good looking, good sounding Strat. I like the '54's and haven't felt the need to change them around.
The body is not, as you can see, an original Fender body (original would be sunburst in the back, too). I don't know whose body this is, but it's alder, light, nitro-finished, and resonates well.
The headstock, complete with repro decals. I should have sprayed a couple more coats of lacquer before I put the decals down, but I wasn't thinking. Oh well. No one will mistake for an original anyway, although it IS a Fender Lic. Allparts neck.
I've been through a lot of Strats and I like this one.
