Allparts Relic
I had another "relic" but stupidly sold it and after a few years started Jonesing for another. Kicking around on Ebay one evening, I spotted a very nicely done Allparts body and put a low ball bid on it. I won! At the same time, I had some excellent Fralin underwound cyrogenic pickups that I'd been using in my B-Bender guitar, sitting unused. And I'd also been wanting to replace the ultra-vintage Allparts neck on the Bender with a flatter radius. A project started forming! The body arrived, I ordered more parts, then some more parts, a few more parts and finally....ta-da!!!
I need to get a bridge with a serial number. The Fralin underwound pickups sound really good- clean, bright, and lots of character.
I think the body color and relic'ing was very well done.
Here's the headstock of the Allparts neck that I ran on my B-Bender for several years.
I played the guitar for several weeks before getting my courage up to lightly relic the neck. I did this to the fingerboard, but I left the back of the neck alone, except for light steel wooling to take the shine off.
I really like this relic. It feels good, sounds great, and looks cool. I like it better than the other Relic I had and if I never play another note of guitar, this one will hang on the wall as artwork!
